María Olivera

I am an Argentine Tango dancer, teacher and performer with almost 20 years of experience. ?I’m based in Buenos Aires and tour the world spreading the love for tango and the secrets and nuances of Argentine dance culture. ? In my classes I encourage my students to discover the beauty and depth of the dance through practicing technique and repertoire. At the same time I advocate for finding a profound connection both between the partners dancing and between the couple and the music. ?I understand the art of Tango as a whole: music, poetry, history, social dance and performance. Therefore, in my school I organize and promote side activities (talks, lectures, tours and even movie days) that I believe help my students dig deeper in the soul of Tango.? I am a member of the CID-Unesco (International Dance Council) and I am the Director of “Escuela del Abrazo”, with base in Recoleta, Buenos Aires.
